Sgeirea (Skerray) Gaelic meaning: ‘Between the Rocks and the Sea’….
Welcome to our home in Skerray, a remote crofting hamlet on the stunning north coast of Scotland, just a few miles from the North Coast 500 (NC500) route. Whether you are looking for bed and breakfast accommodation, a holiday let, small wedding venue, ecotherapy experience, great catering or delicious homemade cake at our pop up cafe, you have come to the right place.
Andy and Lauren warmly welcome you to their veggie/vegan home in the Scottish highlands, a relaxing and unique bed and breakfast choice and a superb holiday rental opportunity. A year round destination, the North coast of Scotland has something for everyone, whether you a walker, cyclist, birdwatcher and wildlife enthusiast, artist, kayaker or simply looking for an opportunity to ‘get away from it all’ in a stunning environment. A retreat for everyone to enjoy, we also sometimes offer a pop up cafe and other events where you can chat with us and the locals and find out more about the area. Please see our events page for more information.
Between the Rocks and the Sea is a diverse venue. When we are not operating the cottage as a bed and breakfast destination, we offer it for holiday rentals of up to 3 weeks. The cottage is available as a holiday rental occasionally during the spring and summer and is available as a holiday rental/ retreat from September 2017 until the end of February 2018. At other times, we have bed and breakfast accomodation in the cottage and also run occasional retreats based on ecotherapeautic and yogic principles.
Between the Rocks and the Sea is located just a stone’s throw off the spectacular North Coast 500 route (NC500) and is a great place to break your journey and explore. The NC500 is more than 500 miles of magical discovery taking you to and from Inverness, venturing round the capital of the Highlands, up the West Coast and back via the rugged north coast. Now a popular road trip, the NC500 offers something for everyone and can be done in stages or as a whole tour.
Delicious food awaits you whether you are staying at our bed and breakfast, popping in to our cafe or attending an event such as the pop up restaurant. You know how sometimes there are places you go to that you don’t want to say too many glowing things about it because everyone will want to go there and then you won’t be able to because its all booked up?……. well this is one of those places. A real gem. Andy looked after us beautifully, the food, the house and the location are amazing. We had the added bonus of sunny warm weather. We WILL be back…. if we can get in! Sandra and Amanda Mackay, visitors to our Pop Up cafeLauren and Andy have a delightful, traditional crofthouse imaginatively restored in a lovely location, full of interesting objects, many collected on Andy’s extensive travels. No one was in when we arrived, but Andy had left us some of his delicious cake and the log burner was laid ready for us to light in the sitting room so we felt very much welcomed. Andy could not have been a better host – friendly, welcoming and with fascinating stories to tell. Best veggie breakfast ever, beautifully presented. Thank you so much Andy and Lauren. Perfect, perfect house, wonderful breakfast, fascinating company.
